Worth Saving - Feature Documentary

Status

In Progress

A feature-length documentary by award-winning director, Emily McDonald. Renowned for her short-form documentary work.

Shot over the course of a year, Worth Saving goes inside a female-founded, non-profit recovery organization operating in Kensington, Philadelphia, USA. An area that The New York Times once referred to as “The Walmart of heroin".

Set in the epicenter of America's opioid epidemic, Worth Saving follows the journeys of the residents, volunteers, and community members they serve. A deeply moving portrait of endurance, community, hope, and survival.

Alongside drug-abstinent housing, Savage Sisters offer a unique harm reduction program to protect those still living in active addiction. Both programs have been developed and informed by the lived experiences of founder Sarah (who fought for her own sobriety) and include things like trauma therapy, yoga, kickboxing, holistic healing, and 12-step fellowship.

After a successful Kickstarter, we are now raising more funds for this project on Indiegogo.
